Vittoria CX Tyres

The tyre panic for the masters worlds!

Well, that maybe over doing it for a catchy title but, it was a concern when I realised that my Challenge tubeless cx tyres were over sized for the UCI rules. My Challenge tyres which I had been reasonably happy with, other than the leaky nature of them, were measuring up at 35mm, 2mm over the legal limit. Having never done a UCI race before I didn’t know how strict they’d be and I didn’t want to risk it. After some phone calls and very basic maths I figured that going for a 700x31 tyre would probably be within the 33mm limit on my Hunt Carbon 35 Aero wheels with 19mm internal width. This was Tuesday evening and I was leaving on Friday morning so the tyres had to be at the shop Thursday for mounting. They arrived before lunch on Thursday thanks to Madison, the UK suppliers quick processing time. I mounted them with the Vittoria tyre liners and 60ml of orange seal sealant.

Here are the results.
